How To Get From Houston William P. Hobby Airport to Downtown

Option 1: METRO 50 Broadway Bus / METRO Rail Green Line Train

  • Travel time: 1 hour
  • The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) offers 50 Broadway. Running every 15 minutes (30 minutes on weekends) this bus departs from Curb Zone 3 outside the Arrivals Level. Ride until arriving at Magnolia Park Transit Center and board the METRO RailGreen Line. The Green Line runs directly through downtown Houston with stops such as Convention District Westbound Station. Perfect if your final destination is Daikin Park or George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB).
  • Not as direct as the later option but this bus & light rail combination provides a scenic route heading into downtown Houston.

Option 2: METRO 40 Telephone / Heights Bus

  • Travel time: 1 hour
  • The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) also offers 40 Telephone / Heights
  • Running every 30 minutes this direct (but with stops) bus departs from Curb Zone 3 outside the Arrivals Level. In downtown Houston, route 40 stops at several intersections passing through downtown, notably George R. Brown Convention Center (GRB) and Main Street Square.

Option 3: Shuttle Bus

Option 4: Taxi / Rideshare

  • Travel time: 20-25 minutes
  • Undoubtedly, the most expensive option from our list but the most private. In addition to taxis, Uber and Lyft offer private rideshare services from the airport. If you arrive at rush hour expect to sit in traffic. Expect to pay about $25-30 for a ride.
